Great article. I think you are trying to compare apple with pears. But you are not. You forgot to look at the fact. Some community set up on the benefit of other to their success. Shame on you that you consider that kindness of our Flash brother being sold to Israel. Also the Civil Right Act movement was for the sake of African America. They were playing on the field of African-Americans field, on African-American bloodshed. Finally, the get the right the want to be part of the politics.

revolutionary greetings , I agree with the points raised in this article , Africa has become a paragon of crisis and conflicts .But I see all these problems as symptoms .I think we must focus more on the cause or the hidden hands behind this. Can we all buy the notion that Africans cannot unite or we cannot gorven ? Surely there is some force which is fuelling all this discord and disunity for global capitalist interest , until we all see through this and identify the enemy and strategies and fight it as one Africa will be a cocktail of chaos until kingdom come.Let us not that Africa is teh richest continent on Africa , China is waking up ,Iran is waking up , India is waking up , why not us ? Surely there is a deliberate way to diunite us.

i don't know how i stumbled upon this but this is one pathetic attempt to unify two countries that have pretty much gone on their own tracks. if you want to unify, then you should make a group that will include all immigrants or if you are that much focused on your own specific culture, then stick to ethiopia. eritirea is a former renegade province that doesn't deserve the same footing as a country that as previously mentioned is twenty times smaller than ethio. i would be more responsive if i saw 50 percent ethio and 50 percent djibouti scholarship. i, as an ethiopian have more to gain from a healthy relationship with djiboutians than eritreans. their independence is their entire identity, LEAVE THEM ALONE and mind your business

Comment 1: The book project has, in fact, transformed me and my thinking of my own identity; something I thought was unmovable. It's funny you mention the 'neither-nor' bit because I actually thought about exactly what you just said. The purpose of the book is to garner all of the perspectives of the diaspora. Multiculturalism does make some people feel 'neither-nor' and others feel 'here and there'. The title should be more neutral and your perspective is the optimistic and hopeful version that we can all learn to share one day. I'm afraid i didn't follow the second part of your comment, though: "how the word nigger complement if need be contradict the label being black." ? It sounds interesting.

To comment 2: Thank you, I'll take that as a compliment. And I hope you will consider submitting a piece to the book project about what elicited that comment because the question "what does Habesha really look like" is the question we want to answer with our book. Your perspective is very valuable.

Habesha means the father of gift (Presents).

It is a word derived from ancient Egypt (Kemait). It has nothing to do with Arabs. If Absha had to be a mixed race, what about the Arabs and the European Mulatos like Italians, French, Portugese, Spaniards, etc ? Arabs are mongrel of Negros and whites.
The people of punt land were called Abeshat. They were black people.
Punt land was the Ethiopian highland. It was considerd to be the holy land. Punt was regarded as the ancesstral homeland of all Phroahs of Egypt.
It was under the jurdiction of Hator, the god of beauty
